The Serbian-American Association of Doctors and Dentists from Chicago (SAMDS) celebrated 32 years of existence and work and the medical Slava of Saints Kozma and Damjan. The gala ceremony was held in the famous “Drake” hotel in Chicago. Numerous doctors and guests attended the cutting of the Slava cake together with priests Aleksandar Petrović and Dragan Arsić. The host of the celebration was doctor Vesna Simić with her family.
Dr. Vesna Simić congratulated Slava to the management of SAMDS and the president Dr. Nebojša Knežević and the 32nd anniversary of work, greeted the present guests and stated that the medical organization is one of the important factors for strengthening the connection of Serbs in the Serbian community in America, as well as inspiration and support for young doctors who are starting their careers.
The president of the organization, Dr. Nebojša Knežević, and the vice-president, Dr. Mirela Savčić, expressed their joy and announced free medical examinations that will be held at several locations at the end of the year for our people living in Chicago and the surrounding area. A memorial service was also held for the recently deceased doctor Milenko Lazarevic and all other doctors who were members of SAMDS.
After the prayer, the cutting of the Patron Saint cake and the dinner, there was an entertainment program, for which Marko Živković, Dragana Rakčević and Mile Vujnović were in charge. The celebration and cheerful atmosphere lasted until the late evening hours.
