Today I am surrounded by several neighbors who always vote for anybody who has a D attached to their names. Another neighbor kept the Trump sign in his front yard from the first day Donald Trump took that famous escalator ride and became a politician. Two of my neighbors, retired, walk their dogs every day passed that Trump sign.
Humility is a virtue. Blessed are those of us who are truly humble, and I mean truly humble. Lord knows I tried to be that kind of person during my entire long life. That is not easy regardless of your profession. Tolerance is in the same category. The Bible teaches us to turn the other cheek if someone slaps us on one cheek. My former students consisted of many national, cultural, racial and religious backgrounds. There were times when I felt like screaming as I listened to them, as well as to some of my colleagues. Somehow I managed to bite my tongue most of the time and remain civil. A few days ago one of my former fellow teachers passed away. He was of an English heritage, a flaming liberal, sharp as a razor, very knowledgeable. We had many discussions during our unassigned periods at the West Technical High School. I still consider myself a conservative, whatever that means, but we remained good friends for some fifty years.

Their dogs do not seem to mind, though, sign is sign.
This year I posted a “Dennis Kucinich for Congress”, a man who used to be a Democrat but switched to an Independent these elections. He is of a Croatian and Polish descent! A Serb voting for a man of Croatian descent? How could I?
Well, back then when our bellowed United States and NATO bombarded Yugoslavia (Serbs in Bosnia and Serbia) a young Ohio Congressman by the name of Dennis Kucinich protested, visited our church and risked his life (Cleveland Croats threatened him because he “sided” with us).He is a decent man. Too bad he did not make it in these elections, but I thought it to be decent to thank him for his kindness. If Donald Trump had any sense he would find a place for him in his new administration, Republican or not.
I have to confess. I am enjoying myself this time, and not so much because Trump won but because Joseph Biden and Kamala Harris lost. I am even tuning in to CNN, ABC and MSNBC just to watch their hosts and guests cry. The man who survived two assassination attempts shall be our 37th President. Am I gloating? Yes I am, and I hope God forgives me for expressing my true feelings.
Do I think the new administration will be kind to Serbia and The Republic of Srpska? I understand that the Trump’s choice to lead the CIA is in bed with Kosovo Albanians, and God knows how many other members of his (Trump’s) Cabinet received money from Kosovo Albanians? Still, let me enjoy the results of this year’s American elections. I waited for this a long, long time.
