The traditional celebration of the birthday of the great scientist Michael Pupin washeld again this year in his birthplace Idvor.
The October Meetings, organized by the Idvor Cultural Center and the Mladen Selak Foundation, began with a ceremonial
academy on October 9 at 12:00. The Pupin Days program continued on October 11 with the 21st “Meeting of Lovers of Beautiful
Words”, while the sixth race “From Pasture to Scholar and Winner” is planned for October 18.
Michael Pupin, a world-renowned scientist, inventor and benefactor, left an indelible mark on science and culture. His name
is associated with numerous patents, but also with the work From Immigrant to Inventor (1923), which has inspired generations
of young people to persevere in knowledge and education. Idvor, Pupin’s birthplace, becomes the center of festivities dedicated
to his life and work every October, reminding us that a man who changed the world came from a small Banat village.
Michael Pupin was the founder and the first president of Serbian National Defense, our own national organization in the
United States of America.

Significant patent documentation arrived in Idvor
Patent documentation related to one of Michael Pupin’s inventions (approved in 1895), thanks to Mirjana Petrović who lives
in America (San Francisco), arrived in Idvor at the Mihajlo Pupin Museum. This is just one of the donations that our people living
abroad have given to the birthplace of the great scientist.
