Announcement of the Serbian National Defense in America regarding the situation in Kosovo and Metohija
5/31/2023 - The recent events in Kosovo and Metohija now show quite clearly how wrong the selfless support of Western countries to the unrecognized state of Kosovo* was.
The Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija, who are oppressed every day, have experienced repression the likes of which is rarely seen in recent years, and these last days clearly show the intentions of the authorities from Pristina. Pristina's provisional authorities want to use armed force to take over and occupy the territory and municipal governments controlled by the Serbian people. Led by the order of uncontrolled Albanian politician Aljbin Kurti, the special units of the Kosovo police carried out an operation to install people in power who are not legitimate representatives of the people in the territory where they live. The Serbs boycotted the elections because of their overall situation in Kosovo and Metohija and because Pristina does not want to create the Union of Serbian Municipalities, which was signed by the Brussels Agreement a decade earlier. That action of violently establishing an illegitimate government led to protests and then a conflict between the Serbian people and the police, while NATO forces did not prevent the possibility of a conflict, but instead allowed the Albanian-Kosovo units to provoke the conflict.
According to the mandate of UN Resolution 1244, NATO entered the territory of the Serbian province, but the status of the province is still questionable and is the subject of negotiations. NATO has not fulfilled its most important task: NATO in Kosovo and Metohija is not there to enable one side to take power by force and thus secure a status according to the will of the force, nor is it there to implement the will of the countries that support an already finished status for them. NATO is there based on UN Resolution 1244, and that document clearly states that Serbia has the right to protect the Serbian people.
As the United States and its European allies have failed to secure full independence for Kosovo*, and leniency towards the authorities in Pristina has reached its peak, all this has led to these latest developments that threaten to escalate into open conflict.
Serbs cannot be provocateurs and bullies in their own Kosovo and Metohija, because they are the ones who are constantly provoked and are subjected to daily violence. The images of the foreign media do not give a true picture, but deal with the consequences while the causes are not discussed. That's wrong. If you understand the situation in Kosovo and Metohija, it is clear: the special police forces of the Pristina authorities are a constant threat to peace and stability because they use provocative terrorist methods of the quasi-state.
In order to return to a political solution through dialogue, which threatens to be suspended due to recent actions, the Serbian National Defense in America believes that it is necessary to urgently withdraw the forces of the special units of the Kosovo Police from the north of Kosovo and Metohija, because they are the main cause of frequent instability and conflicts. And secondly, we believe that the immediate withdrawal of installed Albanian mayors from the municipalities of Kosovska Mitrovica, Zvečan, Leposavic and Zubin Potok is necessary and that those elections there be annulled because they were illegitimate. Also, we believe that KFOR forces in Kosovo and Metohija should not allow incursions and provocations by the Kosovo police under false pretenses issued by the Kosovo authorities.
