SARAJEVO — The United States Embassy in Bosnia and Herzegovina has officially notified the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bosnia and Herzegovina that the nomination of Douglas Jones for the position of US Ambassador has been withdrawn.
Jones was previously nominated by former US President Joe Biden to serve as Washington’s envoy in Sarajevo. However, with the transition to President Donald Trump’s administration, the nomination has been returned to the White House for further consideration, following the expiration of the initial procedural deadline.
According to diplomatic sources, one of the potential candidates now being considered for the ambassadorial post is Olga Ravasi, who leads the organization “Serbs for Trump.”
The development comes amid shifting US foreign policy priorities in the region under the new administration.
