I am not a politician, I do not have degree in political science. When I say that I simply wish to state my lack of qualifications in matters of world politics. Let our esteemed Srdja Trifkovic handle that field. I do think that my common sense and old age give me right to talk about what is good, or not good for me and my fellow citizens, both Serbian and American.
Not long ago I heard my President, the man I voted for in last American presidential elections, state that eight hundred thousand Russians and six hundred thousand Ukrainians died in the war in Ukraine. I do not wish that any number of people anywhere die in any conflict. Upon hearing that nonsense from my President I could not but wonder as to where President Trump got this information? He did not consult colonel Macgregor. He did not consult Scott Ritter. And these are our guys not Russians. Colonel Macgregor estimates that for every Russian soldier who dies in that conflict seven or eight Ukrainians lose their lives. The Russians have practically won already, or, it is a matter of weeks, maybe months. Ukraine had over forty million people before Russians decided to attack Ukraine in order to liberate the Russian nationals living in Donetsk and Zaporozie provinces.
There were several attempts by Russia to make some kind of agreement with Ukraine, the Minsk agreement comes to mind. I found out that Mr. Zelensky was ready to come to terms with Mr. Putin, and then a certain British guy with funny hair due showed up in Kiev and talked the Ukrainian actor turn politician to fight Russia instead. Great Britain, United States and the entire NATO promised Zelensky to supply him with weapons and money, they told him how Russia is weak, clumsy, and inept to fight a war. They told him how Russian economy would not be able to sustain the war for a long time, and after all the sanctions, after all the money and weapons given to Ukraine Russia was stronger and stronger, and Ukraine lost many thousand soldiers, some of her people fled the country and went abroad. Today, Ukraine numbers around twenty million people, her young men died on battle fields, her economy is totally in ruins, and NATO, US and Great Britain still supply weapons and money to Ukraine. My apolitical and common sense tells me that the West does not care about Ukraine, their goal is to destroy both Ukraine and Russia.
As for United States it seems to make no difference who is our President, Democrat, or Republican, the beat goes on. President Trump may want to stop the war, he may try to live up to his pre-election promises, but his many generals do not, and some of his former generals are advising him to continue the conflict to “punish” Putin. They may be punishing Russia, but they are also punishing us, American tax payers, by supporting the war machine. When was the last time Russia attacked US? I am ninety one years old, fairly educated, I cannot remember that Russia ever attacked America.
My advice to Mr. Trump would be not to mess with Russia. Yes, Russia lost millions of her people in past wars, both in wars against Napoleon and Hitler, but at the end those who chose to attack her ended up losers. We would be much smarter to mind our own business. Our infra structure needs attention, our roads and bridges resemble those in third world countries. When I drive on our local roads I am afraid to lose my fillings, which is how many ruts and holes are slowing me down. Our postal service is too slow and unreliable, our pay checks are no longer enough to by basic necessities, and a new car is no longer within our capabilities.
Stay home, America, stop sending money to Israel, Ukraine and all over the world. Bring our soldiers home, hire a few more policemen and keep us safe. Only then will America be Great Again.
